The Nefertiti Lift: A Subtle Lift for Your Jawline and the Corners of Your Mouth

A relaxed appearance is sometimes found in the small details. The position of the corners of your mouth, the contour of your jawline, and the tension in your neck all play a role in this. Some muscles pull these areas downward. With a Nefertiti lift, we can temporarily relax those muscles, creating a subtle lifting effect.

At JECT Clinics, we combine treatment of the superficial neck muscle—the platysma—with the muscles that pull the corners of the mouth downward, known as the depressor anguli oris (DAO). Our guiding principle? To preserve your natural appearance with a treatment tailored to your face.

‍

What is a Nefertiti lift?

‍TheNefertiti Lift is a botulinum toxin treatment named after the Egyptian queen Nefertiti, known for her elegant neck and well-defined jawline.

‍

At JECT, we treat two muscle groups:

‍

  • The platysma: a thin, superficial muscle that extends from the neck to the jawline and the lower part of the face.
  • The DAO muscles: small muscles on either side of the mouth that pull the corners of the mouth downward.

By specifically relaxing these muscles, their downward pull is reduced. This can create a subtle lifting effect around the jawline and the corners of the mouth.

‍

‍

What results can you expect?

‍ANefertiti lift can make the jawline appear slightly more defined, soften visible muscle bands in the neck, and give downward-turned corners of the mouth a more relaxed appearance. The result is usually subtle and depends on your anatomy, muscle activity, and skin elasticity.

‍

The treatment does not add volume or remove excess skin or fat. Therefore, if there is noticeable sagging skin or a double chin, a different approach may be more appropriate. A Nefertiti lift also does not produce the same results as a surgical facelift.

‍

‍

For whom is the treatment appropriate?

‍This treatmentmay be appropriate if active muscles are contributing to sagging around your jawline or the corners of your mouth. During the consultation, the doctor will examine your face and neck, both at rest and in motion. We’ll discuss what you’d like to change and assess whether a Nefertiti lift is the right option for you.

‍

How does the treatment proceed?

‍Thedoctor uses a fine needle to inject small amounts of botulinum toxin into the selected muscles. The injections may cause brief discomfort. Afterward, you will receive personalized aftercare instructions.

‍

The effect develops gradually. The first changes are usually noticeable within a few days, and we evaluate the results after about two weeks. The effect typically lasts 4 to 6 months and then gradually wears off. Exactly how long the effect lasts varies from person to person.

‍

Are there any side effects?

‍Temporaryredness, tenderness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites may occur. Unwanted muscle weakness or changes in your smile may also develop. Careful assessment of the anatomy and appropriate dosing are therefore important. The doctor will discuss the potential risks with you in advance.
